Here's Why We Search

Given the number of folks who think that we as a fire service are being too aggressive in searching buildings I think the time has come to have a forum where brothers and sisters can share their saves. So please email thefireservicewarrior@gmail.com if you have a story of a Rescue that you or a brother or sister made from a BURNING BUILDING. We save lives in lots of ways, but I want to limit this forum. I'll post the stories here.

Rescue in North Carolina:
On February 3 members of Charlotte Fire Department rescued an 11-year old boy from a well involved house fire.  Regrettably the boy died two days later in the hospital.  The story can be found at http://www.wbtv.com/Global/story.asp?S=13961383

A Grab in Seattle:
"I always grab a ladder and a hook and a bar and go to the back, just in case, you know?" Materi said.

From The Chicago Fire Department:
9/9/2010
76th and Stewart
Eng 122 54 Trk 20 30 Sqd 5 Batt 18

Heavy fire on first floor and rear porches of a vacant, completely boarded up, 25x50 two story, ordinary. Aggressive interior attack made by Eng 122 to keep fire from extending up interior stairs into second floor apartment, victim initially seen waving from 2nd floor window. Trk 20 ladder to second floor to search room where victim was last seen. Victim found and brought down ladder. 3 minor injuries to firefighters and victim left ER before being seen. I'd say thats a win.
